Gerundives
- A verbal adjective used to express an action that should or must be taken.
- It usually takes the nominative case, but can also take the accusative. The person who must perform the action is put in the dative case. Eg. Puella tibi amanda est. The girl deserves to be loved by you. Puellam tibi amandam est I say that the girl must be loved by you. In hoc libro sunt multa discenda. In this book are many things that ought to be learned.
- The gerundive can be used in situations where a gerund would be used.
