The commercialized mass culture of television, video games and pop music over-stimulates our senses and under-stimulates our minds. It accustoms us to watch passively rather than to participate. It seldom represents us and very often de-legitimizes us. It numbs us to our artistic potential. I believe that creating active, grassroots artistic communities is a vital project for the revitalization of our culture.

The Internet offers some promise for this project. A growing number of artists are taking advantage of the Internet to publish ourselves and create global, grassroots artistic communities.
