The Goblin Mountain

The Goblin Mountain symbol is a summary of the quincunx organization of the Goblin Dominions. It shows the five geographical divisions of the mountain: the zone of fire (or root of the mountain), the zone of earth (subterranean, but higher than the zone of fire), the zone of oceans (parallel with the outlands), the zone of mountain (the body of the mountain visible from the outlands), and the zone of air (or the mountain peaks). The zone of fire is represented by the flames at the bottom of the symbol; the zone of earth by the diamonds; the zone of oceans by the wave symbols of the goddess Emerald; the zone of mountain by the goblin face and blade symbols at the interior of the mountain; and the zone of air by the moon, star, and sun symbols of the goddess Topaz.

Each race of Goblins has traditionally been associated with these five elements of the mountain: the Red Goblins with the fires from which the Goblins sprang in the age when the earth was young; the Black Goblins with the diamonds that have ever produced the wealth of the Goblin Dominions; the Green Goblins with the oceans and with Goblin trade and expansion in the outlands; the White Goblins with sun, moon, stars, sky and wizardly magic; and the Gold Goblins with the mountain itself, the element that unites all races of Goblins into a single people.
